Team Report
Winners of the last season's Div. 4 proved to be a very strong team. In fact, I would say stronger than all of our old opponents in Div. 3 last year.
New Eastroids play counter-attacking style with very fast midfield transition. However, their defence is not that good. They have been caught mispassing and nabbing several times.
Watchout for number 20, a stylish forward with fast pace and good shot.
About the game:
1st half - we let in 3 easy goals all defensive mistakes
1) I heard a whistle for offside and took the vertical pass lightly allowing No.20 pounce on it and quickly score. The whistle came from neighbouring pitch, you know bad thing about Turf City - fileds are too close to each other.
2) A through ball on their left wing that wasn't properly covered by the midfield. One-on-one and a goal.
3) Another my mishap, as 4 Eastroids were offside a through pass was flying into me as I was trying to kicked out the ball deflected back for another easy one-on-one. Referee didn't give offside - hard to interpret call.
Our goal came from neat short-passing between Oleg K and Anthony with the latter accurately placing the ball into the corner.
2nd half - we went all in attack and were punished with 4 goals (2 one-on-ones, a penalty, and a wonder strike from corner play)
We had one wonder strike as well - Abi made a cross from the right that landed past goallie into the goal. Question still remains whether the cross was intended to be like that or not. Only Abi's foot would tell...
There were several goalposts and crossbar hittings by both teams.
Our conclusion: opponent is strong but could be beaten with different tactics. We must stop their running. We need to sit back and make them play possession game and pounce on their passing mistakes which they do make often - simliar to our famous 2-0 win over Armanis last season. The shorter home field of Khalsa should help in doing that as well.
