With the neutrals playing up Pacey Blinders as potential title contenders, the boys of Kamikaze MMXV knew that a win here will send a strong message to their rivals that Kamikaze has no intention of relinquishing their lead.
However, their preparations for the massive clash against the mighty Druzhba FC were dealt a hammer blow as Captain Kaviraj and Player of the Month Jeeva both had to pull out from the squad due to illness on the morning of the game.
If there ever was a rally call for MMXV to prove that they are more than a sum of their parts, this was the occasion and within 5 minutes, Murali, playing in attack for the first time created a neat chance for Harvin who laid it up for Taufiq. Taufiq grabbed the opportunity as he unleashed a half-volley that gave the keeper no chance.
Druzhba started the second half in their trademark resilient fashion and for 15 minutes ran the MMXV midfield ragged. However, Rasul, Ara, Irshad all combined to provide attacking outlets and when veteran fullback Jayraj joined the attack, it gave enough space for Irshad to make a dribble that would invite the challenge and win the team a penalty. Harvin stepped up with delight and finished off his spot kick in a calm manner to double the team’s lead.
Taufiq was then played in with a delightful lofted assist by the returning Rafiq and by doubling his goal tally for the match, Taufiq sealed the 3 points for MMXV and kept their lead atop the table
