Week 16 of the Sunday Premier League Season 17 marked the final round of Division 2 fixtures before the league pauses for the Muslim fasting month and Hari Raya celebrations. With four out of the eight teams in action, all eyes were on the top of the table as both EZ Utd FC and Pacey Blinders FC took to the pitch in crucial encounters. Just when it seemed like things were smooth sailing at the summit, the script was flipped. League leaders EZ Utd, unbeaten and with five wins from six, were expected to take control against fourth placed Laggau FC. They got off to the perfect start when Aarulselven Tamilselven opened the scoring in the 8th minute. However, Laggau responded quickly, with Suaidi Maricar levelling the score in the 15th minute to make it 1-1 at the break. The second half was tightly contested, with both sides pushing for a breakthrough. With just eight minutes left on the clock, Mustaffa Ali delivered a decisive moment, finding the winner to hand Laggau a stunning victory and inflict EZ Utd’s first defeat of the season. Standout performances came from Khidir Ishak for Laggau FC and T. Dewadas for EZ Utd. That result opened the door for second placed Pacey Blinders to draw level on points, and they made no mistake. Facing Fajar Youngsters, Pacey produced a dominant display, once again led by their talisman Brandon Thio. The forward struck twice in quick succession just before half time to give his side a 2-0 lead. From there, Pacey remained in full control. Colin Meehan, who was named Man of the Match, extended the lead in the 60th minute before Si Han rounded off a convincing 4-0 win. As the league heads into the break, Pacey Blinders now sit level on points with EZ Utd, although EZ retain a 10 goal advantage and have a game in hand. Laggau FC are not far behind in third place, just four points off the top with two games in hand, setting up a thrilling second half of the season when action resumes in April 2026.
