Team Report

Team Report

Last match week of the inaugural Sengkang West Inter-zone League, the boys were pumped to close this season on a high. As some termed the game between Sengkang West Knights and Riverbower a 'derby', our boys were keen to execute a revenge on Riverbower after gifting them the 3 points back in the opening game of the league.

Knowing that we needed to win Riverbower by 4 goals to leapfrog them into 3rd in the league, the boys started off well and were up 2-0 thanks to goals from Nicholas and Rahmat. Momentum was just picking up before a sucker punch by one of our old boys Hafiz Hassan, showing his heading prowess by heading in a corner to pull a goal back for their team.

Peng then picked up a mistake from the keeper and made him pay for it after converting a lobbing goal from outside the penalty box (which Martial learnt from and scored against Watford this weekend). Ramlan then pulled a Toni Kroos by scoring directly from a corner, which left the opposition shell-shock. SKW Knights then went into half-time with a 4-1 lead.

Riverbower came out in the second half, tightening up their defence and SKW Knights were having some trouble breaking it down. Ultimately, the sheer fight and determination by SKW Knights proved too strong to be stopped by Riverbowers as Rahmat converted a beautiful curler into the top left corner to end the match with a scoreline of 5-1, and ultimately clinching 3rd place for Sengkang West Knights.

Kudos to all players and managers of Sengkang West Knights for the effort in the first league that the team joined. Cheers to Riverbower for the game and a good fight for the last game of the season.
